PROCESS FOR COURT-ORDERED COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS

The following instructions are for volunteers interested in completing their court-ordered community service hours with Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco. In order to perform your hours at our sites, you will need to do the following:

  1. Contact and receive formal approval for your participation from Volunteer Services Dept. PRIOR to your first workday. Hours performed without prior approval will not be validated. No drop ins are allowed.
  2. Confirm that your mandated service does not involve the offenses below. Unfortunately, if the court requires you to complete your service because of an offense on the list, Habitat GSF cannot engage you due to the nature of our business and constituency.
    • Felonies
    • Theft
    • Violent crimes
    • Sexual offenses
    • Weapons-related charges
    • Please note that if your offense is not listed above, Habitat GSF will conduct an individualized assessment. This means we will review your application to evaluate the nature and gravity of the offense, its relevance to the volunteer role, and any potential risks involved. This process ensures a fair decision is made based on the specific circumstances of each case. To expedite this process, please provide clear details about the charges.
  3. Send the information below to volunteer@habitatgsf.org with the subject line “Court-Ordered Community Service Hours"
