Volunteer: 1 PM - 4 PM Playhouse Prep Support

Come help our Playhouse Program by working at our warehouse in the Bayview Neighborhood and preparing the playhouse materials to be used for future projects. Your involvement will support our Playhouse Program, a team building activity when we engage corporate sponsors in building playhouses which are donated to organizations serving children in the community.  Tasks will include fabricating, finishing, and painting playhouse parts.

Scope of Work:  Scope of work can include unloading and storing large lumber deliveries, painting pre-cut playhouse pieces, or light woodworking. Power tool experience is a plus but not a must. Your role as a Playhouse Build Event Support volunteer is to provide support while sponsoring groups build children’s playhouses to donate to families and community charities. Volunteer space is limited.

Parking: Limited in immediate area but more available in surrounding neighborhood.

Scope of Work: Playhouse event support includes set up and tear down as well as leading corporate volunteers in building, painting and roofing the playhouses. Onsite training will be provided. Please review the Ten Top Safety Tips before you come onsite.

Schedule: Shifts will vary depending on the scheduled build. We will need you about an hour before and after. The event itself typically last 4-5 hours. You can expect the schedule to follow this format:

Share our mission by walking the streets with us for some grass-roots outreach! Habitat GSF is reaching out to the Bayview community of San Francisco to promote our Home Preservation Program. Made possible by a recent Cal Home grant, this program enables homeowners with limited income to address deferred maintenance and critical home repairs so that they can continue to live safely in their homes and preserve their legacy.  On this day, teams of volunteers will work together to bring informational flyers to individual homes. Come enjoy a little summer sun (hopefully) with us while enjoying the charm of one of San Francisco's most culturally-diverse and historically-rich neighborhoods. 

Starting Point Location: Bayview KC Jones Park, Picnic Tables on Keith St. and Bancroft Ave

Reminders: Volunteers can expect to walk about 2 miles so please make sure that you wear comfortable shoes, layers (it could get windy), a hat and sunscreen.
