Volunteer: 9:00 AM - 12 PM New Construction: 335 Pierce Road, Menlo Park, San Mateo County

Join us in Belle Haven, Menlo Park to help maintain the land where we plan to build 8 future Habitat for Humanity homes.  These homes will be a much-needed addition to the affordable housing stock in a county where the average home price is over $1.5 million.

It's not a long shift but you can expect a good workout!

Volunteer Schedule: NOTE: Construction needs to keep to a tight schedule so please be on time.

8:45-9:00 AM
ARRIVE, CHECK-IN and get your PPE
9:00-9:15
Habitat ORIENTATION, SAFETY TALK, TASKS, and Crew ASSIGNMENTS
9:15-12:00 PM
WORK

Scope of Work: Last October, we've cut down tall brush and pruned trees. As we wait for permit approvals and continue to build our capital stack, we need to be good neighbors and maintain the property. We need to prevent the lot from becoming a jungle :-). Some power equipment will be used.

Prepare: To be ready for strenuous physical labor, please get a good night’s sleep and a full breakfast before your build day. Snacks and water will be available. Also, review the Top 10 Safety Tips before coming to the site. Remember to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes (work boots are ideal), long pants, and a long sleeves shirt that you don’t mind getting dirty/ruined. If you have your own mask, leather work gloves, and safety goggles, please bring them. Although we have limited PPE available, bringing your own helps us reduce costs. Prepare to be outside in any weather with layers and sun protection. Leave valuables at home, and please watch this safety video to learn about your volunteer day and ways you can stay safe at the construction site.

Volunteer Code of Conduct: When you sign up for this shift, you are agreeing to abide by the norms, behavior, and expectations outlined in Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco's Volunteer Code of Conduct and Habitat for Humanity's Safeguarding Video.

Check-in: Begins 15 mins before start time.

Age Requirement: All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Minors must have their waiver signed by a parent/guardian.

Weather: In general, we work rain or shine. You will receive a text by 7AM on your volunteer day if your shift is canceled due to unfavorable weather.
