Home Preservation

Who We Are

Through the Home Preservation Program, Habitat GSF works with fixed and low-income homeowners to provide critical repairs to keep their homes dry, safe, and warm. Homeowners are often retired seniors who have owned their homes for decades. With our repairs, these homes continue to serve as a safe place for their kids, grandkids, and sometimes, the neighborhood. Being able to afford needed home repairs and improvements such as a new roof, fence repair, or grab bars allows homeowners to keep their legacy and remain secure in their long-time residence.

What We Do

Our Home Preservation crew leads small groups of volunteers to do home repairs that can include site prep, painting, fence and deck repair, and many other tasks that are tailored to the specific needs of the homeowner. Because the work site is a private home, volunteers and staff are asked to be especially conscious of homeowner comfort and safety. To respect homeowner privacy, the exact address is not shared on the public website but will be emailed to volunteers the day before the volunteer shift.

More details are included in Opportunities. Minimum age is 16. Home Preservation opportunities are typically Wednesday through Saturdays, from 9:00 – 1:00 PM. Check out our opportunities to join the community to help families!
