Thank you for signing up to help Habitat GSF with our Home Preservation project in the Oceanview neighborhood of San Francisco. In your 7- hour shift, you will address deferred maintenance or do construction-related repair work to help longtime low-income homeowners maintain their assets for future generations.

Scope of Work: Build retaining wall in backyard. Includes site prep, digging posts, carpentry and site clean up

We are privileged to enter someone’s home. Please remember to be extra polite and respectful. We invite the homeowner to meet the volunteers but leave it to them to choose whether to engage. Know that not everyone is comfortable with strangers. Follow their lead.

Come Prepared: Dress for the weather in clothing you don’t mind getting ruined, and sturdy, closed-toed footwear. Bring lunch and a water bottle. Parking may be limited so beware of posted rules. Carpool or take public transit if possible. Please review the Ten Top Safety Tips while working at a construction site.
Age Requirement: All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Minors must have their waiver signed by a parent/guardian.
Weather: We work rain or shine. You will receive a text message by 7AM if your shift has been canceled due to unfavorable weather.
Parking: Street parking only, we encourage carpooling, using public transit, or rideshares.
