Join us in the beautiful coastal town of Bolinas to help clear the land in preparation for 8 homes scheduled to be built this fall. These homes will add to four existing Habitat homes in the area, a much-needed addition to the affordable housing stock in an area where the average home price is over $1.5 million. This project is a joint project of Bolinas Community Land Trust (BCLT) and Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco (HGSF).
Expect a good workout. Hopefully, the charm of the town and our proximity to the ocean may offer a cool breeze, cloud cover, and psychic reprieve. Volunteers 16 and older are welcome to work alongside HGSF and BCLT staff as they work together to bring this dream to a reality.
Volunteer Schedule: NOTE: Construction needs to keep to a tight schedule so please be on time.

Scope of Work: Clear the site of debris to enable the contractor to have a clean slate to start their work. This will include cutting down tall brush, pruning trees, and removing logs. Knowledge of chainsaw operation a plus.
Getting there: We appreciate your desire to help in this location as Bolinas is a little remote and the roads, winding. Unfortunately, easy public transportation is non-existent. Make sure that you turn on your GPS before you get in too deep as cell signal may be spotty.
Prepare: To be ready for strenuous physical labor, please get a good night’s sleep and a full breakfast before your build day. Snacks and water will be available but please remember to pack a lunch. There are restaurants nearby and a grocery store across the street for sandwiches. Also, review the Top 10 Safety Tips before coming to the site. Remember to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes (work boots are ideal), long pants, and a long sleeves shirt that you don’t mind getting dirty/ruined. If you have your own mask, leather work gloves, and safety goggles, please bring them. Although we have limited PPE available, bringing your own helps us reduce costs. Prepare to be outside in any weather with layers and sun protection. Leave valuables at home, and please watch this safety video to learn about your volunteer day and ways you can stay safe at the construction site.
Volunteer Code of Conduct: When you sign up for this shift, you are agreeing to abide by the norms, behavior, and expectations outlined in Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco's Volunteer Code of Conduct and Habitat for Humanity's Safeguarding Video.
Check-in: Begins 15 mins before start time.
Age Requirement: All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Minors must have their waiver signed by a parent/guardian.
Weather: In general, we work rain or shine. However, this site can get muddy so you will receive a text by 7AM on your volunteer day if your shift is canceled due to unfavorable weather.
