Welcome, Veteran Community Volunteers!
We're excited to have you participate in Habitat GSF's inaugural Veterans Build celebration! Together, we will engage our veterans, active military service members, their families, and broader community members who support veterans through a celebration honoring their essential contributions to our country and in the SF Bay Area.
Habitat GSF staff looks forward to celebrating Veterans Build together to support our mission to create generational change through affordable homeownership during our celebration on Saturday 11/18/2023 from 9 am - 12:30 pm. Veterans Build will bring veterans, military service members, and their allies in the broader community together to build playhouses that will be donated to families, childcare facilities, and nonprofits. We’re thrilled that you’ll join us as we create safe, healthy, and affordable places for children of our community to play and grow.
Scope of Work: Using hand and light power tools, you'll build up to four complete sturdy outdoor structures for children and finish them off by painting them with themes determined by the recipients of the playhouses.
Volunteer Code of Conduct: When you sign up for this shift, you agree to abide by the norms and expectations outlined in the Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco Volunteer Code of Conduct.
Location: Habitat GSF Warehouse, 1320 Egbert Ave., San Francisco
Check-in: Begins 30 mins before start time.

Contact Tracing: Attendance is recorded strictly at the site to help facilitate contact tracing. Volunteers must report to Habitat staff if they experience COVID-19 symptoms or receive a positive diagnosis within 2 weeks of their volunteer day. Reports will be shared with others who worked on that day but sources will remain anonymous.
Parking: At the warehouse, street parking is limited. Carpooling, Lyft or Uber is recommended.
Come Prepared: To be ready to be active and on your feet. Please review the Top 10 Safety Tips before coming to the site. Remember to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty/ruined. Leave valuables at home, and please watch this safety video to learn about your volunteer day and ways you can stay safe at the construction site.
Age Requirement: All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Minors must have their waiver signed by a parent/guardian.
